Think Chair

SAMI-GALEGO.jpg

DESIGN INTENT: The Think Chair is a hybrid form that has incorporated two particular functions in a streamline design. It is a work which incorporates both the activity of sitting as well as providing lighting. An objective to this hybrid design was to create the idea that the extension incorporating the lighting was meant to be there, a natural extension of the overall design. A lamp and chair as one.
INSPIRED BY: It was inspired by the clich?©d image borrowed from cartoons as an idea symbol, the moment when an epiphany has enlightened the individual and magically the symbol of the light globe appears, hovering above the head. A minimalist approach in constructing the form assists in allowing the features to stand out, the extended lighting arm, the tubular backing cushion, which was inspired by a love of BMX bikes and the simple timber seat. All of the features of the chair are subtle but quite strong as a collective, combining for both function and eloquent aesthetic expression.
MATERIALS: Plywood manufacture, steel, plastic and leather.

  3. Jules says:

It is ugly and looks so uncomfortable, I’m already trying hard to think so the light comes on and I can move this to the spare room.
    Do not want.
