the book radio

The Book Radio, sits nicely beside other book-shaped products: Scan radio channels by flipping the pages, book mark radio stations and also annotate favorite programs by actually writing on to the relevant pages; change the volume by sliding the bookmark in or out.
And how does it work? Technically speaking the book has embedded sensors and a powerful micro-controller (a miniature computer) in the spine. The embedded software can detect the page position by measuring the density of paper and scans a digital radio. The book then wirelessly talks to a base unit with speakers. Alternatively it can be used with headphones just like a personal music player.

isn’t that a little huge?
Technology goes backwards. Wow. Who still uses a radio aside from in their car?
Is this a Joke? why not the washing machine - radio?
This is actually a cool idea. …and plenty of people use radios.
I’m not sure how you plan to execute all that technical magic….
It’s a little big.. I don’t like it… don’t want to have it…. would NOT want that close to me… xD
This idea may not be commercially viable… but it is thought provoking as an alternate interface for a radio (or MP3 player or database or…). What other ways can we make navigation more tactile, engaging or comfortable for the user? Good job.
The idea just seems sort of off. I don’t mean to put anyone down ever but why when we have MP3 players the size of a pencil that do the same thing? Unless you want to appear to be reading when in actuality you’re just listening to the radio?
As far as the controls go, again I just think the idea is a little backwards. I’m perfectly fine and actually prefer a 100 point scale as to how high my volume is. The bookmarking thing is again I think more hassle since we currently just push 1 button and boom, the radio station is on.
The notes thing is something you may want to explore a bit further but as it stands now I don’t see a practical use for it unless you could somehow tie it to some sort of podcast? But even then most podcasts come with a short description of their contents.
Loved it! Don’t let this comments turn you down…nice idea!
