Sorapot - Modern Teapot

Tea is a very ritualistic pleasure. I still refuse to buy those efficient electric kettles because the process of setting the kettle to boil and the impending urgent whistle are aspects of tea consumption that set my day in motion. Joey Roth’s Sorapot embraces the ritualistic aspects of tea drinking with its clear container for viewing the tea leaves as they seep into the water. And, when light shines through, it allows for a tea colored shadow to be cast.

i cant help but want the front and back to be more curved rather than the triangles. but nonetheless, its a fantastic design. i want one
Lik ethe open center idea, not fond of the triangle. Looks gorgeous from the side, like crap from the front.
Thing is, that exact front view is something you’ll never see. It’s cool that the triangle blends right into the handle like that. This would look awesome in real life because to look at something directly head-on in real life is very difficult– especially with something like this, where a tea kettle is never at eye level! But, I see no reason why the design couldn’t also round at the bottom, for a variation design, so it’s be less triangular and more like a bowling pin, for those folks that can’t see past computer renderings.
Nice job. Let’s hope the manufacturing isn’t cheap– that kills nice tea kettles.
There is a reason why teapots aren’t transparant: the nasty tea stains you get when you use it. This tea pot looks gorgeous until the first use. Afterwards, it will have a brownish haze over it until it will become opaque. Unless you figure out a way to clean this very easily, I don’t think this is a practical design.
Love the idea. I can’t help but think the design could be completely redone. It doesn’t look that great. If you look at the pictyure from the side, it looks like those coffee dispensers at 7-11 with a curves metal handle.
And like Xaphire said, there’s gonna be stains all other the pot. I know this from experience.
This is something you would see at the Gugenheim Art Museum. The whole thing is non-practical. Get one of the old Corning glass percolators and uses it as a teapot just like a million others do. And wash it with baking soda…duh! Sorry, not being offensive, just like dumb humour.
um looking at the design from the side and reading how you like the idea of whistling from boiling water i’m confused as to how this design would actually allow the water to get boiled in the first place.. because the glass/bottom of the piece doesnt seem to actually be connected.. you even mention that it will cast a shadow on the surface its sitting on from the tea colored water..
i dont like this design, i like more traditional styles.. but i also dont like the design because i dont think it would actually work..
Congratulations Joey,
The Sorapot became reality!
