One of the latest trends in cell phone technology is the slider phone. This audio/video player brings that technology into new areas of the market. All controls are hidden under the screen allowing for a sleek, smooth exterior to the product. This device would feature flash based storage and be able to charge via the headphone jack.

Personally, I think it’d be quite annoying to slide up every time I need to change a song. That’s a good reason why I prefer thew iPod.
i see the idea too much naive, the minimal is good , but i dont see what is the point in this design. EVen ii dont know how it slide , i dont see rails or anything just 2 boxes fixed together
the rails would be on the bottom of the top “box”.
do a google image search for “slider phone” and see for yourself–you don’t see the rails on the front of the object. it’s all on the bottom.
I think, with all do respect, the designer didn’t want to think about how it ought to work and focus on the concept only. Wich in my humble opinion is not enough. It’s still a very traditional interface, kinda awkward to press the button closest to the (upper) sliding part. I’d prefer something that would respond to gestures, or at least has a more intuitive placement of the controls over this design. And widescreen aspect ratio for the display would be nice too. But then again, who am I?
The idea of a very minimalistic, sleak and stylish device is nice though.
Thinking about “how it ought to work” was thought out. The model actually features internals and everything. The only thing not in detail is the sliding mechanism, because I’m not 100% sure how it’s done on these devices, I have an idea but not 100%. The device is small, unfortunately on these renderings I made the headphone jack too small and the actual device is not open 100%. All the buttons are identical in size.
But anyways, you are right it was mainly too be a concept only. Here is a revision to this concept. http://www.flickr.com/photos/unleashedlive/502524492/
