Each scented candle lasts twenty minutes and has a
different scent, and before dying it gives its flame to the one that follows. Arranging the candles according to their scent and lighting the first one, it’s possible to know how much time has passed through the scents that mark the stages in the room. It’s one of five project for blind people showcased at Salone del Mobile in milano by Studio Sovrappensiero.

This is pretty cool. Yeah, it could help blind people keep track of time, but how do they light the initial wick? If some type of automatic lighter is built into the base, then that clears up that issue. I also think it could be very useful for prolonged meditations, allowing the different scents to move you from one meditative state to another without something interruptive like an alarm.

…try lighting a candle with your eyes closed sometime. I bet you can do it.
