Roller Toaster

2006 Red Dot Award-winning design not only toasts bread, but it also allows the user to watch the slice magically transform before their eyes?—from cold and squishy to hot ‘n crispy! Rollertoaster’s compact footprint is exceptionally smaller than conventional toasters and its form (a lot like the classic power strip!) is modern, clean-lined, and adaptable to any environment.

Build a fancier toaster and they shall…ummm…ignore it? Cool I bet kids can stick there hands in there too! No Billy! HOT…H..O…T…HOT!

  2. Nate says:

    looks dangerous as hell!

  3. Trey says:

Well, first, it doesn’t take much heat to toast bread. It doesn’t say how long it takes.

Second, if you have kids stupid* enough to put their hand in THAT toaster, they probably try to clean the regular one with a butter knife anyway, so you’re better off letting your retard* kid die, collect the insurance and get this awesome toaster with the pay off.

I agree with Xander, other than in hotels though, i dont see this catching on at peoples residences.

  6. Oh Hi says:

It’s cool but it seems like it would get crumbs all over.

  7. Jill says:

The first toaster was powered by unscrewing a lightbulb, then screwing the toaster plugin into the light socket. This does not look much safer.

Are the Red Dot awards sponsored by the fire departments for fund raising?

Looks a good concept for volume toasting in a commercial application but much too dangerous for Mr. and Mrs. suburban ID10T By the time you had enough safety guards in place it would be bigger than a conventional pop-up toaster

Oh please, are you guys yuppies or what? I like it!

Shut up. It’s FARGIN CRACKERS! :)

Well, roller toasters are already in series manufacture for commercial use by people like Dualit, although they are much bigger than this idea and heat both sides of the whole slice at the same time. There does not appear to be enough space in the concept to house the elements needed to toast the top surface of the bread. You can only get a limited density of heating elements in the space within a safe design, so this toaster will take longer to toast bread. Also the footprint of the toaster in operation is much larger than a pop-up. Why do you think pop-up toasters are so common? Ah yes, it must be because all the existing successful businesses employ unimaginative idiot*s. Is this site part of the Darwin Awards?

Hopefully someone in here will have posted a new concept photoshop artwork design for the wheel. I can’t wait.

  13. roy says:

you are all seeming to forget that by the time the toast comes out the other end the bit that got toasted first has probably cooled down. so one side of the toast will be cold and the other side will be warm. fail.

  14. roy says:

oh….and i’m not sure how well the toast would balance as it comes out either, plus you would have to feed the bread in by hand. i’m sorry, this might look good but is extremely impractical.

  15. I just invented something while seeing this!
Take a laminator and put tortillas in it!!

Imagine the emergency room visits for improper “sexual” uses

  20. Beast says:

how do you like your hot dogs?

  21. Mom says:

We have 5 kids and they would all LOVE this toaster! Yes, crumbs will go on the counter but you could wipe them up in a second…verses two years of crumbs that are now stored in our conventional toaster, which we all hate and abuse regularly. Hooray for creative design applications for the home front!

Some of the early commenters about not being use in homes . . . I will take one, yes yes!

  1. [...] The roller toaster is a much simpler device – it does not put any kind of image onto the bread but simplifies the toasting process by passing the bread through one side to the other, toasting it on the way. Share [...]
