One Cold Room

In a furnace heated home, every room has one of these floor grates. In some homes, there a room that does not get enough air flow, and as such, that room is too cold.
This floor grate has a pair of 4″ (10cm) fans, just under the grate surface. The floor grate, with the fan, will suck the air up through the air ducts. This will fix the problem caused by a lack of air flow to that one room, without having to buy a bigger furnace or more powerful furnace fan.
In the summer time, this will also work with central air conditioning to increase cooling to that one warm room.

    Question: how will the fans be powered? and also, where does the air con come from?

    Good idea. Needs a little work though

    @Xander
    Answer: electricity. also, …do you know how a central heating/cooling system works? if you did, you’d know the answer to you (second) question and also know that it was a stupid* question.

    It would be plugged into a nearby wall outlet. Batteries would be too expensive for fans running 24/7.

    And as insub2 said, the air comes from the air ducts.

    The entire unit would only cost about $30 at limited production. About $20 if some place like Walmart was to carry it. I have already built a prototype. It works nicely.

    Insub, you just asked a stupid* one too. Some of us DON”T NEED A CENTRAL COOLING/HEATING SYSTEM. and thank you Leonard for answering it without being a complete jack ___ about it.

    If you don’t have or need a furnace, then this is not designed for you.
    If you use baseboard heaters, or some other type of heating/cooling, this would be useless to you.

    This is only for furnace heated homes.

    great simple solution, although i think a rechargeable battery system would work well. lithium cells have advanced greatly and would make the product look more appealing. Good idea.

    Properly designed HVAC systems (which includes things like these vents and the rooms they feed) don’t have the problem you’re talking about. It would seem dimwitted Union crackers tinkering together air-conditioning systems is an ubiquitous underpinning of the fabric of our collective experience.
