A coffee table that will change the world.
A Surface computer is able to recognize physical objects from a paintbrush to a cell phone and allows hands-on, direct control of content such as photos, music and maps. Surface turns an ordinary tabletop into a dynamic surface that provides interaction with all forms of digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects.
The new product is aimed directly at hotels, retail establishments, restaurants and public entertainment venues and should be commercially available towards the end of the year.

I sincerely doubt this will “change the world.”

…or anything else for that matter.

I have also seen a variety of far more advanced systems like this one that do more.

I guess that’s Microsoft’s style though; never first, but always second (with less functionality).

Screw those places, it’d be prettty nice in my room!….Although it’s microsoft, so it’s prob gonna crash randomly…

and how will it connect? Blue tooth? You can’t randomly access a device by putting a phone under it.

    I don’t want a blue screen while I’m having a coffe!
or messages like: “you don’t have the drivers to order another drink”…
or: “error 221sB3 on your soup, you must restart the wine”.

    :)

why have a fabulous touchscreen (I’d love to have one of those) on a coffeetable?
Coffeetables are amongst the most useless pieces of furniture, and I just don’t get why that’s chosen to sport a high tech computer.
