I’m not able to knit, but I’ll ask my grandma
R2D2.0 Says:
they should sell this in starbucks.
Nicha Says:
YES!!! This is the right one!!
Agree..they should sale it in starbuck
mave Says:
and exactly how this is environmentally friendly [link]? if you ask me, a knit band on a disposable cup is an exercise in hypocrisy. why not a re-usable cup? this is just really, really *.
This is “sustainable” how? By putting a frilly little sleeve on a disposable cup? Get a REUSABLE MUG. Man, people will use the idea of environmentalism to hawk anything these days. What a wrongheaded idea.
mary Says:
looks like a very good idea, but, be careful cup could slide right thru.
Kelly L Says:
i wholeheartedly concur with Mave and Kelly.
take the idea a step further and get yourself a thermos.
then, maybe you could knit up a cozy for it to sling it over your shoulder. that would be time and resource much better utilized.
marcopolo Says:
100% agree with Kelly,
get yourself a thermos.
but if you still love the look and feel of this idea, and you don’t have knitting skills, you can do it by recycling and cutting old socks.
This is a damn good little prezzie to make for all my friends who cannot start the day without a Starbucks. Thank you! x
Sam C. Says:
Cute idea, but where are the instructions for knit one, purl two or whatever? I can probably con someone into making me one if I can give them a pattern.
Wondferful idea! Even if some claim that this isn’t environmentally friendly still. Just remember - so are the cars we use, the computers we throw out and so on and so on. It’s at least one step closer to being environmentally friendly.
courtney Says:
great idea am actually trying to knit these for friends as presents…but am still trying to teach myself how to cable we’ll see how it goes. any recs. for yarn? cheap is good but not cheap feeling?
thanks.
Jan Says:
Using a reusable coffee sleeve on a disposable cup is clearly better than using *both* disposable sleeve and cup. We should encourage even small steps in the right direction. If one damns those who make some effort, but haven’t yet reached a standard one holds for oneself, one demonstrates arrogance *and* risks alienation of those who might be brought to do more in the future. At least recommend using a reusable cup in an ecouraging fashion instead of ridiculing the idea that a reusable sleeve is environmentally friendly! Sheesh….
kreativ Says:
I’m with Jan,
you must thing in big numbers…
How many starbucks shops are out there? … 2000?
how many coffes sell each shop every day? … 500?
this would make the frightening amount of 1Milion carton sleeves saved.. a DAY!
Think big.
in_stitches Says:
Beautiful!! It is far more likely that you would carry this with you than it would be for you to have a reusable cup at your disposal.
Now if only it were available in a crochet pattern!
glamjets Says:
Quit coffee. More problems solved than any of you would care to believe.
free: very nice!
one point of criticism, even with the best intensions it is hard to believe in the practical chance of succes with only 4 numbers, and no possibility for textmessaging.
I know it is not really the point of the concept, but still. the rest is beautifully done....

There are also great coffee sleeves at:

They have a wide variety of materials and shapes.
