    …try again.

Why if we sold this project to a brazillian ice cream company??!! next time…

  3. Fred Fred Says:

Try again? What a superficial point a view.

  4. Katie Katie Says:

I agree that “…try again” is a really shallow assessment of the idea. If anyone is interested, I expanded on the idea at www.getfreshminds.com. Here’s the start…

How to take an idea to the next level

Thinking of new ideas is really hard, and there nothing worse than putting in the time and effort to develop your idea, only to have it immediately dismissed.

Yesterday I saw an idea on IdeaList that was instantly slammed down by the first commentator. Just two words. “…try again.”

Unsurprisingly, this idea hasn’t fared well after that. People see the first negative comment and don’t want to get behind a “losing idea”.

The problem is, one quick gut reaction is usually the only evaluation most ideas get. A bad first impression, and that idea is headed straight for the circular file. “No harm, right? The idea obviously didn’t have potential.”

Let’s take a look… (go to www.getfreshminds.com for the rest)

  5. Xander Xander Says:

Katie, The fact is that theres no point in the product in the first place.

And besides, this one has been done before. It’s kinda old. But indtead, the inside of the ball has the liquid ice cream and ice. And while you play soccer, the ice cream is mixed and frozen.

  6. Katie Katie Says:

Xander, Of course, you are welcome to your own evaluation of an idea’s value. I simply prefer to look for the potential and opportunities in ideas versus simply dismissing the ones I don’t immediately like. Many very excellent ideas come from “stupid*” beginnings and building off one idea can be a good way to come up with new concepts. Until they go into product development, all ideas are starting points.

  7. rev rev Says:

When I first saw this, I thought it did what Xander was talking about- mixes the ice cream whilst playing a game.

I like the idea of being able to use the remains of your ice cream experience for something else. Popsicle sticks are a great example of this- people use those things for everything.

  8. Dangerdan Dangerdan Says:

i’m alittle confused, does this mix the contents to create icecream because that won’t work, or is it just a novel item for kids to play with an empty icecream container. the later makes more sense, but which ever it is, take Katie’s advice and try and try again to perfect it. The only bad idea are those which hurt others, never give up.

  9. Martin Martin Says:

they already have this, kinda… the one i saw was plastic and was meant for throwing back and forth. idk if you came up with this 1st or if your improving on a idea but good effort either way.

yes made with rubber would be new

We had this kind of icecream packaging in Iceland 25 years ago…:)

Make a number of smaller single-serving balls and then make a game out of it…like if any of you had the fortunate experience of having a giant tent like blanket in kindergarten which the teacher put a ton of plastic balls on top while shaking the bajeezus out of the blanket to make the balls shoot off in crazy directions. Do that. Make the game be a smaller version where parents and kids try to get them icecream filled balls as high up as possible and still catch them. Kids love that. I loved that. If they were all amply padded and small this would be great.

Or just add a tether to the ball and practice your footwork. Or turn them into hollow rackets and play badminton with each swing mixing the icecream.

“Thinking of new ideas is hard.” That was simple enough, Katie. Do you struggle, Katie? Cuz I’d like to help. We can start by devising a budget and then plan a schedule for weekly chores like cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, and doing laundry. Even washing windows. It’s about planning your work and working your plan.

It certainly is a really interesting idea, I’ve personally never have seen it around. But it’s interesting… first you burn calories churning the ice cream, then you gain them right back when you’re finished playing around! :P

I found this site by searching on “soccer ball ice cream” because after seeing the ice cream maker balls, I rememebered the individual serve soccer ball icecreams we had as kids, that were actually the size of tennis balls, but patterened like miniature soccer balls I think. They looked very similar to your illustration, they had the same kind of access lid, and yes, we used to eat the icecream, wash the inside and play ball with them, or my older brother actually used to put globes in them and make little lights out of them… where and when? Australia in the earrly 1970’s… would appreciate anyone who can help me find references to the original product… may have been Streets or Amscol or Peters Icecream, not sure.

I’ve seen this b4, somewhere in India when i was younger. i think it’s a kewl idea since it’s kids who likes ice cream the most and they like trying fun little things =)

I don´t see nothing wrong with this idea, besides, this kind of “reusable” pakage would sell very well here in Brazil. Regular ice cream packages are already re-used here, to store food and this kind of stuff.

But…I have everything against “already done before” ideas, so if this idea was released before in India, Iceland and Australia, you should just drop it or at least stop marketing it as an innovative idea.

Just type “ice cream ball” in Google images. You might see some similar products.

    wow….I love its colour…..

  18. cheap MBT shoes cheap MBT shoes Says:

MBT stands for Masai Barefoot Technology. The company that makes MBT shoes (also known as the anti-shoe) is Swiss Masai. The uniquely-designed, multi-layered, cured sole is designed to simulate walking in sand (similar to the natural walking environment of the Masai in Kenya). This creates a natural, uneven walking surface and forces the body to use all the major and stabilsing muscle groups, thus training the whole body to move correctly.
