Lampshade inspired by the pleasure of Christmas Shopping. Handmade with recycled paper
201AD, the Chinese invented paper, a marvellous material with a complex character. For thousands of years we used paper to write, paint and communicate our thoughts, dreams and desires. Paper – cutting is a unique art form, Chinese women use this graceful and intricate media to record the joy and surprises of their lives and decorate their homes.
Jordy has developed this ancient technique to create expressive and elaborate forms which break free from the two dimensional realm to a dreamlike three-dimensional landscape.

Good gods, man! When I click on a link for a “Happy Lampshade”, I do not brace myself for such a brash visual assault. I couldn’t reconcile how this could possibly make someone “happy” until I started reading the description, and there was my answer: “inspired by the pleasure of Christmas Shopping”. Now that I understand this was designed by the penultimate masochist, because really, who else loves holiday shopping, I can see how this horror of horrors made him happy.
“Lampshade inspired by the pleasure of Christmas Shopping. Handmade with recycled paper.”
Description over. Don’t ruin it with a back-ass-wards meandering through the armpit of language, please.
Anyway, nice job. I always appreciate good paper-craft.
@Ebon: You made me LOL. If you hate holiday shopping, you’re not doing it right. I think this “horror of horrors” does well to create an overall texture in its complexity; it’s the kind of thing you can stare at for a long time, taking in each “moment” in the design, or you can just pass over it as one single, complex element. Not for everyone, but I love it.
