The cylindrical shape will provide most of the load baring qualities, the tent poles will simply aid rigidity. The main reason tent poles brake it due to poor installation or lack of product care. I believe with clever use of vertical ribs molded into the shell and the use of the tent polls could be eliminated. This is a good idea and is worth further development, good stuff.
