the dodecahedral sphere is one of the five so-called platonic bodies, i.e. a solid that consists of x number of identical faces.
m.c escher has depicted the platonic bodies in many of his works.
the lamp is cnc cut in one piece, bent by hand and then assembled with socket cover, fitting and relief.
