Dice House

The ‘Dice’ house is a zero carbon home and designed to be a powerful eye-catching form either as a stand alone property or as repeated attached dwellings. The strong 9 x 9 x 9 metre cube form sits on an octagonal plinth, which is set back from the facade of the house above to emphasis the outline of the Dice. The front and rear facades are broken up by generous glazing and openings. These maximise access and views to surrounding public and private spaces.
As an adaptation of the traditional terrace, the Di can be connected side by side with solid party walls between. The Di are horizontally sliced into three levels above the plinth. Each floor is designed to have a distinct character, whilst maintaining a strong overall architectural language and identity. Capped by a grass roof and openable greenhouse space under a large thermoplastic ETFE pillow shaped ‘Umbrella’ the Dice house maximises its 9 x 9 metre site, freeing up the surrounding area.

It’s a bit…ugly.
And loping off the corners to make it look like a die does anything but “maximize its 9 x 9 meter site.”
Im not sure of its practicality or functionality
but im really digging to design
How do you get the hamsters in? : )
