This is pure gold.I’m wondering how smart is this thing, and what power this notebook have.
Although a clever use of a touch screen laptop, it seems almost hilariously dangerous to implement. Considering states are passing laws, justly, to ban text messaging while driving, I can’t see any company producing this device (they would be liable). Even if this thing came with a million and one warnings about use while driving, people would still insist on using it irresponsibly, it’s just human nature. So, although a decent design (form and rendering wise), I’m obliged to criticize on not considering such a blatant fallback. Perhaps you should consider a system that shuts down the screen while the pedal is depressed, or some other fail safes.

if cell phones are banned in cars (in certain states) because they cause car accidents, this would too.
firstly, it’s a distraction to the driver
secondly, you cant keep your hands on the wheel while using it.
either way, it’s a recipe for disaster.
I understand that this concept is for people that spend long time inside the cars (but not driving)!

* idea! Is this supposed to be used by Maxwell Smart type secret agents who putter around the city, and pull over every 10 minutes to enter personal obervations on traffic conditions into a secure database? Why not just use a hands-free version of the show-phone, and keep on driving.

As obviously dangerous as this may be, I’m betting I see something similar in the next 5 years.
A heads- up projected display with a voice-command interface is the logical solution to avert at least some of the danger.
Once cars have some sort of automated control that keeps distance between cars and roadsides at a certain distance, we will certainly see something like this.
Today’s criticized sci-fi is tomorrow’s reality!

I’d write a longer post on how to be polite while also being critical, but I think you get the point. Or do you?

Now wait a minute! This was obviously designed for use when parked. You guys are meany-weanies! How many sales reps, etc., stop on the side of the road and have to lean over to their right, very uncomf. I think it is a great idea. And anyway you can even use it when you are driving in the mid-west!
Crap! Look at the link! You can project it on your windshield. I’m getting one!
A better alternative is the Intel UMPC concept. You can bring it anywhere, and if you put it in your car, it works with your car’s systems and runs simply via verbal commands. Lemme know when someone dies when the use this.

Not to beat on too much, but how many of you apparent genius’ think the design was meant for during driving? Clearly it is a well designed flexible laptop that can be used in your car when you are STATIONARY. See the hands typing? I think you confused people who think this was designed for during driving would be the only ones trying to drive WITHOUT hands.
Nice design. I do however think that with new tablets being released along with glasses with built in screens that this may be a step behind in the tech department.
The nice people I work for were kind enough to give me an office, and when I visit people they let me have space in their office. No more sitting out in the carpark for me :O)
Actually the ergonomics of this design are so poor as to be actionable.

but if you really need to work in the carpark (ie: salespeople, taxidrivers… ),
this would be better solution than using a standard laptop, or a tiny iPhone… right?
You are not allowed to use it while driving, and what is stopping me from laying my notepad on my knees when the car isn’t moving?
