This is not a good idea. I think so. It’s an outrage with ashes of dead people. Sorry for my english.
it depends to whom you distribute the pencils…
if the dead was an artist and the pencils are distributed among the family and students.. I think it is pretty poetic and respectful.
but if you sell the pencils to a kindergarten school… then it is a bit morbid…
that’s ridiculous. I mean, I’m all for recycling but this is a little far don’t you think?
nice idea, but i’m sure the family of the deceased person would have very mixed feelings about using the pencils much less their creation. also, if this is meant to be an environmentally friendly solution i wouldn’t buy into it. cremation costs a very large amount of btu (british thermal units); much more than burial.

Right, but with ‘traditional burial, you have unused land (though typically greened) and the casket typically of wood, metal and lining material.
That’s not going into the btu’s used to manufacture the coffin, transport it & dig the hole. It ain’t done by hand no more.
I’ve personally always liked the idea of being buried in a burlap bag under a tree to offer my body up as fertilizer to the tree and, in that way, continue my existence.
Burial laws being what they are, I’m opting for cremation.

On the surface, it sounds like a great idea, but after reading some of the concerns from the above posters, I’d have to vote no as well.
As was stated, if the person who passed was an artist, there’d be no better tribute. However, as was also pointed out, if the pencils ended up being chewed on by five year olds, not so much.
