The calendar plays an important role in our daily life,
we might not always be aware, but it strongly influences how we structure our days. Without a calendar our lives would be more inefficient and confusing to live. By merging qualities from an everyday item like a wallpaper with functions from a calendar that we use daily, something ordinary like a wall becomes alive and personal.

A neat idea. I think the execution could use a little work.

Floor-to-ceiling = unusable. You can barely reach the 7th line down, let alone the top! Bring it down a bit.

Personally, I would prefer the ordinary stay ordinary in this case. A clean, white wall would be more appealing to me than one partially covered with notes about my schedule.

Also personally, I find paper calendars pretty useless. I keep dates on my computer and transfer the notes to my phone. It’s searchable, selectable, always with me, and reminds me of key dates. A date-book or wall calendar’s got nothing on iCal.

I think this idea would be great if you changed the focus from utilitarian to visual. Instead of dates with space to write, just make a running line of dates, year after year, that I could cross out, one-by-one. It would create a nice texture that changes as time passes. …and the commentary could be about the passing of time, life and death, and all that, rather than “Calendars are important. Here’s one on a wall.”

Needs work, which is odd considering the genius of your clock: http://www.christiaanpostma.nl/clock.htm

I agree that the idea is impractical. Not only is the height an issue, but, while I’ve never done it, I’ve heard that putting up/taking down wallpaper is one of the most dreaded chores a homeowner can have. Would you really want to sign yourself for *having* to do it every year? Even something as silly as a GIANT calendar would be more practical than this.
