A fresh approach to bringing light to our lives.

A product brought to you by two designers who just happen to be friends,
Joseph Graceffa and Dario Buzzini (the creators of the Spinning Disc).

8AM is a task lamp constructed simply of braided electric wire.
The flexible wire, once passed thru an aluminum clamp, undergoes a ???change of state,??? elegantly transforming into the structural body of the lamp itself. Following the simple construction method, the 8AM task lamp is also powered on/off in an elegant manner.
By touching the aluminum clamp, the user is able to trigger the ever-increasing levels of light output. This simple system consisting of a wire and a clamp, can take on various forms to fill the home, office, or lobby with a pleasant wash of light.

Released as a concept at Salone del Mobile 2007, 8AM has received much attention and garnered rave reviews from the public and professional lighting industry.

In addition to the task lamp built, 8AM is illustrated in three other configurations ??“ a chandelier, a wall sconce, and a floor lamp.

This one really nice. If you could make the clamp slightly less bulky, that would be even better. But this is one design I’d like to have in my house.

Well - I think the concept is a good starting point - how exactly did you get the cord to stay stiff like that - is this faked or did you actually build this?

OK - so here are some answers to questions we’ve been receiving.
    1. Where can I purchase 8AM?
As it stands, 8AM is purely a concept. That said, we are pursuing interests from the lighting industry for potential manufacturers. If you have interest in our work, please feel free to drop us a line.
    2. How much will 8AM cost?
Well, let’s say somewhere around $180-$200. This is an educated guess of course.
    3. What are the oranges all about?
First - loosen up. Second, if you notice, they are placed in order to call attention to the gentle radii of the lamp structure. Thirdly - we eat lots of fruit.
    4. Did you really build this or is it “faked”?
Yes - Dario and I really built this and it does work. Quite beautifully actually.
    5. How do become so cool?
Ummmm, OK that wasn’t really a question.

  14. Pedro Villalobos Pedro Villalobos Says:

I just loved it! But it could have some directional tool to make it light only the keyboard :)

  15. mod_a mod_a Says:

Any details on construction? Power of the bulb? Lumen?
It is always the simplest solutions that seem to make the biggest impressions. Nice work!
You should start a mailing list for interested people to sign up for when you find a manufacturer.

it’s a beautiful lamp. really. congratulations! But one should always be aware of what he’s doing when he put two oranges and a longitudinal element so close. It might look quite fallic
